Is the Tissue Ready? Understanding Skin Biological Capacity Before and After Stimulation
Biostimulation has become a key approach in regenerative aesthetic medicine, aiming to activate collagen production and improve tissue quality. However, clinical responses vary significantly, suggesting that successful regeneration depends not only on the chosen treatment but also on the biological capacity of the tissue to respond.
Ageing skin is not only characterised by structural decline but also by reduced biological responsiveness. A “tired tissue state” may demonstrate decreased cellular activity, impaired extracellular matrix organisation, altered hydration, low-grade inflammation, and reduced regenerative potential — which is why the clinical question should shift from which stimulation to use, to whether the tissue has the capacity to respond at all.
This session introduces tissue readiness as an essential factor in achieving predictable outcomes, covering how to assess skin quality, hydration and barrier function, inflammation and oxidative stress, and regenerative potential and patient-related factors — helping clinicians move towards more personalised, consistent and long-lasting regenerative outcomes.
A structured approach to tissue readiness
Assess
Skin quality, hydration, inflammation and regenerative potential.
Prepare
Optimise tissue quality and the biological environment first.
Stimulate
Apply regenerative treatment once the tissue is ready to respond.
Maintain
Support long-term tissue health and quality after treatment.
A structured approach to tissue readiness
Facial assessment
Identify the true muscular cause behind each aesthetic concern.
Patient selection
Match the treatment to the person, not just the presenting complaint.
Treatment planning
Build a tailored plan around function as much as aesthetics.
Injection technique
Execute with precision to keep expression natural and balanced.
